the man known as dj nature holds a long and illustrious list of releases that spans all the way back to the early 90s, when, as nature boy, the bristol born dj and producer was carving out sample heavy house music for labels like ruff disco records and the underworld affiliated tomato label. his relatively modern re-incarnation, as dj nature, has seen singles and two albums come correct on revered labels like golf channel recordings and jazzy sport. following on from futureboogies landmark 50th release, dj nature drops a heavyweight four track ep on the bristol label, each track promising and delivering summertime vibes in abundance. born lifted, with its deft guitar licks and soulful vocal chops over lazy, hazy beats, is a great example of the nature aesthetics that make his tracks so very popular across the house fraternity. my life picks up the pace, deploying granite hard snares and cosmic chords with dusted vocal samples. on the flip, what it isnt packs some jazz chops with its sampled pianos and saxophone riffs over a discordant beat that swings with the best of them, whilst ep closer loving u more again serves up some delicious summertime grooves with the perfect marriage of deep, funky bass and seductive samples.

la freund recordings presents a new ep from amsterdam based producer and modular synth enthusiast sjamsoedin. three varied tracks and two heavy remixes by simon weiss (rush hour / voyage direct) and claude (a.k.a. fulgeance) form the new label s second release. sjam sjamsoedin has been around the electronic music scene for over fifteen years, releasing music under various aliases. since 2011 sjamsoedin has been experimenting with a deeper and warmer sound built around strong grooves, combined with his love for (modular) synths and effects. orion is sjamsoedin s first full length ep under his own name. while the drums and pastel find their inspiration in the chicago house sound of the good old days, orion has more of a lush electronica vibe to it. both remixes add a heavier sound to complete the well rounded ep.

manchester original sameed comes through on gamm with two tasty noodle nuggets based on his food experiences from vietnam where he currently resides. his simple yet effective approach is best described as sample-friendly underground dance music with influences of disco, soul and jazz. on his gamm debut the first noodle dish comes with a heavy disco and jazz-funk feel (bun) that together with some gritty vocals gives us a peak time jam to die for. for desert, sameed delivers chao which is way darker and chops up some deep jazz samples with some 4/4 rhythms. again, simple but oh so effective

ivanlatyshev is a record producer and dj with more than 10-years experience, having grown up in russias cultural epicentre of st petersburg. developing a love for deep house, the young producer has been releasing his perfectly-realised club tunes on labels such as toolroom, and now provides us with a second outing on dessous recordings. the art of flying ep presents two original tracks and a pair of remixes of the lead cut. the original art of flying is quite a statement a jazzy, swingy beat introduces the track, before solidifying around punchy 4/4 groove. restless synths drift in and out resulting in a track that is both exceptionally funky and deeply wonky - topped off with a killer spoken word vocal. the ever-dependable eddie fowlkes steps up on remix duties and supplies a more jacking interpretation, adding a filthy bassline on his fly mix. the same track also gets a crazy dub rework which expands the space within the track and strips it down for maximum club effect.

slow life catalog by primary perception, two blood brothers born and raised in the canary island, but living in berlin for the last years. it s in the german capital where they got to meet and support the slow life crew since their beginnings, and where they developed their fresh but matured sound shown on this their first album. -evidence of a primary perception- clearly has the trademark slow life character, combining broken beats, pads, acid bass lines, ambient passages, and overall, groovy deepness. they have more music coming soon in 2017, so as the label suggest: -they are here to stay!-.

this is joels second appearance on kanzleramt after his very much loved solo 12inch reminder in 2006. its also not the first release of the two, as last years drumcode limited release slight munch shows. joel and heiko have been friends for over a decade. the depth of that connection is reflected in rooter as much of this release was designed and realised right at the kitchen table over breakfast or with a good wine while cooking dinner. more parts of those sessions will be following on parabel later this year.

following on from the very robust debut of his own label failsafe, juxta position deviates back to the more melancholic aesthetic with which he initially made his mark back in 2013 on mistress recordings. drawing palpable influence from ambient electronica like boards of canada, he then reframes the aesthetic, with the help of rhythmic anchoring, on the 12 minute opening opus eureka. however, not to disappoint lovers of the slightly harder, more uptempo, electronic beat, the flip then dishes up two significantly more pressurised techno pieces, the former made in belgrade more linear, the latter reimagined more flamboyant.
